Versatile Blogger Award

It's been a long time since anyone gave me an award.  I think perhaps we get into circles or loops of them and around and around they go and then things quiet down for a while.  Anyway I'm very honored as this one came from Cat Patches who told me my blog adds to her reading enjoyment, which as an avid reader I found to be quite the compliment.  Thanks a million! So here's the scoop.
1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
3. Mention seven random things about yourself. (see below)
4. List the rules.
Then there is something about 15 bloggers, but you know how it is, I always pick people who don't want to pass it along, or it doesn't work with their content.  So I'm going to scratch that part.

Seven random things hu?
1.  I have a bug bite on my forearm.  This is the second one today as I woke this morning with one on my other arm.  I think it's this mild winter, bugs that should have died instead are dining on me.

2.  I am the oldest of five children.  The youngest was in diapers when I started dating my husband.

3. I have always wanted a rolling organizer cart.  So back before Christmas when my mother offered one she didn't need anymore I jumped at it and now I don't know what to do with it, so it just sits in the sewing room.  Empty!

4. I hate seeing children play in the street.  It makes me feel ill.

5.  For the first time in my known memory, my husband is sick and I'm not.  Normally I am the virus and bug magnet in the family. (knock wood!)

6.  I keep my fabric in my china cabinet.  The china lives in a box so I guess we know which one I like more these days.

7.  My computer desk is actually a table my grandfather built to hold one of his wood working machines.  When I run my fingers over the wood smoothed by years of use I think of him.

Liebster Award

I won a blog award.  That always adds a bit of smile to my day.  Blog awards seem to come it spits and spurts and then a bit of nothing (aside: I think we've been in a bit of nothing spell).  So this one came from Vicki of Felines and Fiber Arts. It's called a Liebster Blog.

According to Vicki Liebe means Love in German.  Now my husband and I have a hefty dose of German with namable relatives that came over here fleeing the Hitler Nazi Regime and after 10 years of being together we might not have a "song" but my DH calls me Liebchen which means sweetheart so isn't it nice how it has come full circle into a blog award?  Many thanks to those of you that read my blog.

Now this is an open ended award and you know I always like those because then I don't add effort to anyone's day, but as we have been having this dry spell in our corner of blog land the rules are simple anyone I pick to play it forward has to have less that 300 followers and I can pick 3 to 5 people but I don't have to.

So here are my votes.  Heather of Miracles Momma Designs .  This wonderful lady has been my gal pal for nearly 8 years and for that alone she deserves to win an award, but more than that her blog has a certain something about it that draws you in and from the moment you first find her you're her friend.

Next is Sue of Quilt Times.  I want to be Sue when I'm grow up.  LOL.  Really Sue is kind hearted and sprinkles compliments and happiness like my DH sprinkles salt.  She must have charmed the socks right off her Mr. Fixit and now he's so surrounded by beautiful quilts and a sweetheart that he'll stay forever and ever.

Last by never least is Penny at Stitchin' Penny's blog. If Sue touches my heart with her kind words, Penny Touches my Soul.  I believe she and I are birds of a feather.  We have come from very different walks of life to find ourselves with chronic pain that doesn't listen and trust me no one wants pain that hasn't learned any manners.  Sometimes reading Penny's Blog is like looking through a looking glass.  I'm certain magic wands were dreamed up for times like these.  Not for Prince Charmings and Chariots but instead to have to ability to wipe away the pain and suffering; that is true magic.

Cherry on Top Blog Award

My friend Heather, whom I've known since my marriage and ideals were young has given me a blog award.

Here are the rules to this blog award…

1. Thank the person who gave it to you.
2. Put the award on your blog.
3. Share three things about yourself that you enjoy doing.
4. Pass the award onto five people.

Heather is a dear friend to me and she is a truly amazing scrap-booker.  When ever I mention her to others their eyes bug a little bit and their mouths drop open slightly in amazement.   She might not believe me when she reads that but it's true and she should take it to heart, because she truly is wonderful.  Thanks for the award!

Three things about myself that I enjoy;  shesh that one seems like it should be easy, but the easy stuff you already know anyway.

1.  I love to curl up with a good book.  Books I've read before are like old friends waiting for me to return to them.  My favorite books I have read so many times I can pick them up and open the book at any point read a sentence or two and know exactly what is going on.  I so love rereading books that I made my DH buy me a box of old Anne McCaffery Books that I had already read at least 80% of.

2.  I thrive on spending time with my DH, even if he's sitting in the next room watching tv and I'm doing something on the computer and we're not even bothering to talk - it's like the house is filled with good vibes.

3.  I'm not certain this last one counts, but it's my blog so I'm going with it.  I love compliments.  It's like I'm a cat being petted.  It is so wonderful to hear when I've done something good or helped someone.  That's the good stuff.  It goes straight to your heart and warms you from the inside out.

Now I read a great group of really awesome blogs and I'd hate to single out five, not to mention what of the others that I momentarily forgot?  I'd wake up in the night worried someone felt slighted so I think your all great and that's that.

Sunshine Award

My long time friend Heather over at Miracles Momma Designs gave me the Sunshine Award for my blog.  Here's what she had to say about me:  Liz is a crafting dynamo! She’s always got projects going and her quilts are absolutely fabulous. I want to sew like her when I grow up.

Isn't it surprising to hear something like that?  So often I think we live in our own pool of creativity, going outside to learn but yet, not ever seeing ourselves the way others do, looking from the outside in.  Thanks for the pat on the back!

Now The Sunshine Award has rules:  I'm supposed to pass this on to 12 other bloggers.  Now I'm a big stinkpot because I'm not going to do that.  If I have ever posted a comment at your blog I surely think you're amazing because if I didn't I would have moved on without posting.

Funny thing about that phrase "stink pot".  My dearly departed Grandmother used to call me that, it was sort of special just for me.  But my own daughter...   Now she doesn't like to be called Stink Pot.  It reminds her of smelly toilets, and she is convinced that no matter what she is NOT a smelly toilet.

Thanks Heather over at Miracles Momma Designs for the blog award.

The terms of this blog are to list five things I'm addicted to and to pass it along to five other fabulous blogs.

1.  I am addicted to my husband making me a cup of coffee.  Each morning since the beginning of summer my husband makes me a cup of coffee, he'll then bring it to me or leave it by my elbow.  I love that he cares to do that.  I think I would drink pond scum for the joy of having him bring it to me.

2.  I am addicted to making people laugh.  I love to hear their joy ring through the air.  It's like Christmas only you get to spread the joy around multiple times a day.

3.  I am addicted to sewing things.  It's like my sewing machine haunts me, always there waiting for me to work on something.  Calling me to it, any project is okay as long as I'm putting fabric into the machine.

4.  Luckily for you I'm addicted to the computer.  Each morning I sit down and turn it on.  Used to be that I could take it or leave it, not turning it on until everything I wanted to accomplish that day was done.  Now turning on the computer is automatic.

(geez, these get harder as you go)

5.  Lastly I'm addicted to my family.  I love each and every member with every fiber of my being.  I love seeing them, be they furred, feathered, or human I love them all.  They are a part of me of who I am, and I'd rather not think about life without them.

Five Fabulous Blogs:

Shelly's Blog Shelly for you persistance, I am amazed by it no matter what that sewing machine pulls you back, and when it does then I get to hear from you.

StitchinPenny Penny your words speak to me deeply in a way few understand

Felines and Fiber Arts Vicki the way you mix fabric and colors together with what seems like bottomless patience I'm always happy to drool over your blog - good thing the drooling stays here at my place.

Based on a True Story I don't think Heather at Based on a True Story has been here to Sand and Sunshine, still I find her writing a joy, who knows maybe she'll grace us with a book someday.

Scrappy Angel Quilts Gwen was and is my first Quilting friend EVER, okay my first quilting friend when I was a quilter.  As she is both a teacher and a mom her projects inspire me to do more and reach futher.

Now feel free to pick up your award or not, pass it on or not, but know one thing. I picked the five of you because there is something fabulous about each of you.

Your morning Cuppa Joe

I recieved a blog award! Thanks Heather.

So this morning, I'm popping in for a moment before I race off to do a bit of seam ripping. I couldn't stop thinking about the Apple quilt last night, so it seems that it's back on the front burner again. Silly quilt I wish it would make up it's mind to simmer or boil!

Jessica has been asking me for about a week at odd interverals "What time is it?" I tell her and she says "okay" or something simliar and goes on with her day. She's asking a couple of times a day now. If she knew more of her numbers I'd be happy to show/teach her, but I don't think she's quite ready.
