Christmas Quilt-a-long July

Crud, I forgot today was our Christmas Quilt-a-long day.  I just happened to look over and see my top all neatly folded and it occurred to me "isn't CQAL day the weekend after the Lone Star QAL weekend?" I don't have a very good excuse either, other than I'm under orders to take it easy on a recently dislocated knee and sprained ankle, and I was so busy not doing much of anything that I just plain forgot.  Perhaps the huge mess in the sewing room was a contributing factor?  In case you're wondering the injury was stupid.  I turned to look for my glass of tea and that was what did it, this is the good knee that's gimpy so I'm scooting along.  Trust me it doesn't hurt nearly as bad now as when I did it on Thursday!

So since I was late on last months quilt a long, here is my top put together awaiting the beautiful border Sue planned.  Goodness gracious but I hope this doesn't happen in October when it's my month to be the hostess!  I know, I'm surely prepaid now.

Summer Camp

Only three more background pieces to cut before I can sew.

In the meantime I thought I would show you my daughter's before and after camp pictures.  She couldn't wait for me to catch up so that I could have a cute smiling one.

July Lone Star Day

Lone Star with Background
fabric audition
Yesterday I mentioned that I have the background fabric for the Lone Star.  It is a Caribbean blue blender, and just for Sue I spread out the Lone Star a bit so you can see them together.  These will make the corners of the quilts bringing everything to a square shape.  I had been planning on using a Marine blue for my scrolls but now I'm thinking brown or perhaps black.  What do you think?  Give it some thought while I go iron the wrinkles out.

July: Lone Star Quilt-a-long

It's that time again!  Tomorrow is our Lone Star Quilt-a-long!  I have my background fabric and am planning on finding a bit of cleared off space in this sewing room of mine to cut and add the last background pieces.  I don't have my Fabrico markers yet, so no scroll work, but it sure will be fun to see my star in it's full size and color wont it?  See you tomorrow.
